Well now, Vinny’s got a few words to kick things off

Hope everyone had themselves a real nice Easter. Plenty of good food, good company… and no, before anyone asks, I was not out there chasin’ rabbits. Learned my lesson on that one a long time ago.

We’ve got a fresh batch of “Hey Vinny!” letters in this issue, and I gotta say, folks have been keepin’ me on my toes. Good questions, honest concerns, and a few that made me chuckle a bit too.

Take a few minutes to look things over. There’s some helpful updates, a few reminders, and as always, neighbors lookin’ out for neighbors.

Office & Maintenance Summer Hours

Starting today, Monday, April 6, both the Admin and Activity Office move to their summer schedule.

  • Monday through Friday: 8AM – 3:30PM
  • Closed for lunch: 12PM – 1PM
  • Saturday and Sunday: Closed

Maintenance will be on summer hours as well:

  • Monday through Friday: 6AM – 2:30PM

Trash & Recycling Change

Beginning April 13, trash and recycling pickup will shift to Thursdays only.

DIRECTV Equipment Pick Up

If you still need to pick up your DirecTV device, it is now available for pick up in the Admin Office.

Please give us at least a day’s notice that you will be picking it up so the staff can pull it from the secured storage.

Assessment Reminder

Assessments were due April 1, 2026.

If this slipped past you, now’s the time to get caught up or reach out to the office with any questions. You can find instructions on how to make your payment by clicking here

Fraud Watch

Fraud is on the rise, with scammers using fake websites and digital wallet tricks to steal personal and payment information. They often send links that look legitimate but are designed to capture your login details or redirect you to fraudulent sites. Avoid clicking unknown links, verify website addresses carefully, and contact organizations directly through trusted sources if something seems off. If you receive such a request, immediately call Western Alliance Bank at (888) 995-2265.

Upcoming Board Meetings

Your participation matters more than you might think. These meetings are where decisions are discussed, questions get answered, and direction is set for the community.

  • Condo Board Work Session: April 9 at 9AM (Oasis)
  • Board Meeting: April 16 at 9AM (Oasis)

Whether you attend regularly or just want to stay informed, showing up is one of the simplest ways to stay connected and have a voice in what’s happening around you.

Lawn Bowling Project

Work has officially started on the Lawn Bowling area. It’s always good to see projects moving forward, and we’ll share updates as progress continues.

Another man’s old hospitality cart is a handyman’s treasure

The VO Handymen took the old hospitality cart and turned it into a custom work cart. A solid example of making something useful out of what we already have. Nice work by the team!

Before you Leave for the Summer

Checking Out for the Season

When you check out for the summer, please take a moment to verify all of your contact information with the front desk. This is especially important as we transition to a single database for all mailings and the printed Resident Directory in the fall.

Hey Vinny!

Hey Vinny! Please ask people in the community to stay at home if you have a cold. Listening to people coughing their heads off and blowing their noses is very annoying, and any of us has caught their cold. This sharing we don’t need.

Sincerely, Emuun Sistem

Answer: Alright now, ol’ Vinny’s gonna say this plain and neighborly.

Folks, if you’re feelin’ under the weather…even just a little… do your neighbors and our hard working staff a favor and stay home to rest up. Nobody wants what you’ve got, and around here we’d rather share smiles than sniffles.

If you need to take care of something with the Admin Office, no need to tough it out in person. You’ve got options:

Use the online forms on the website or send the office an email and they’ll help you from there.

Give yourself a day or two and come see us once you’re feelin’ like yourself again. That’s just good neighbor sense right there.

Hey Vinny! Just wondering who is replacing Paul the Pool Guy?

I have seen the pool vacuumed once & the skimmers cleaned out twice in 3 months.

The depth markers, pool, tiles, deck, rails, chairs & general area are gross.

I hope that these issues can be addressed not only for the health & well being of the swimmers but also for the presentation of our facilities.

Thank You, Longtime Lapper

Answer: Well now, let ol’ Vinny fill you in on what’s been goin’ on with those pools.

We’ve brought in a full-time pool service crew, and they’re out there bright and early each morning takin’ care of business. The last outfit just wasn’t cuttin’ it, and Steve let ‘em go and we moved on.

Since the new crew stepped in, things have turned around real nice. The water’s lookin’ better, the equipment’s been fixed the right way, and those constant breakdowns have finally settled down.

On top of that, we’re gettin’ daily reports on water levels and the work being done, so nothing’s slipping through the cracks.

That’s the kind of steady upkeep that keeps things runnin’ smooth around here.

Hey Vinny!

Do you think people would be interested in hearing about some great channels I found on our new DirecTV service at VO? I love the MIX channels.

  • 910 or 200 News Mix: FOX News, MS NOW, CNN, FOX Weather
  • 912 or 352  Business Mix: CNBC, FOX Business, Bloomberg, Cheddar News
  • 913  Weather Mix: AccuWeather, FOX Weather
  • 915  Kids Mix: Nickelodeon, Disney, DisneyJr, Disney XD
  • 917  Food Mix: Food Network, TasteMade, America’s Test Kitchen, Sweet Escapes
  • 920 or 205  Sports Mix: ESPN, ESPN2, FOX Sports 1, SportsGrid

The Mix channels show 4 boxes of different channels. When you go to a Mix channel, you use the arrow keys on the remote to move right or left, and up or down. The sound goes to the channel of the highlighted box. If you click the OK button on a highlighted box, it takes you to that channel. That is pretty Cool!

Answer: Well now, that sounds like quite the setup you stumbled onto there…

Those MIX channels sound like a whole lot to choose from, all in one place. News, sports, food, even something for the grandkids, all lined up nice and easy. And the way you can move around with the remote and jump right into a channel… that’s actually pretty slick.

Now I gotta ask… they don’t happen to have a channel where quail are runnin’ from ya, do they? Might help ol’ Vinny with his cardio if I could just chase ‘em from the comfort of my recliner.

Appreciate you sharin’ this. Sounds like folks might want to poke around and see what they’ve got.
