CLUB INFORMATION

We encourage new ham radio operators by sponsoring classes for technician, general, and advanced licenses. 

We help with the 5 K walk/runs and parking for events at Venture Out. 

We maintain a battery operated radio to be able to communicate
with others in the event of emergencies.

N7VOC The Venture Out Ham Radio Club is located in Mesa, AZ and it is officially called the “Amateur Radio Section of the Electronics Club”. We are a group of “snowbirds” that spend the winter months at Venture Out. We have a well-equipped shack with multiple operating positions.

The shack has a workbench and many tools that can be used to work on electronics.    The ham shack has several HF transceivers and several antennas including two HF beams. There is also a 2-meter rig.

Access to the Electronics Wi-Fi network is available as well as several Windows-based computers that can be used for internet access.

Owners may erect antennas on their unit for ham radio operation as long as they comply with the Venture Out Condo rules. – We support a field day each year with our sister club,  Sunlife ARC. – We hold 2 Meter fox hunts in the park annually. – We have an annual Christmas party with our sister club, Sunlife ARC. Those interested in seeing what a ham shack looks like and even seeing Ham Radio in action.

Announcements and News

Our first event, where we will be assisting with directing traffic, will be the Tennis Tournament commencing on November 27th through December 1st.

Events & Fundraisers

The HAM Radio Breakfast –Date to be announced. Crème Brulé French Toast, sausage, fresh fruit with whipped cream coffee and orange juice.

Meetings

We have weekly meetings at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning at the Oasis building during the winter season. During the off-season the group meets for coffee and a gab session at the Community Center in the Baja Bistro.  So, there is always a chance to visit with the other hams in the group. Members of the group often run the Sunlife 20-meter net from the shack during the winter and summer seasons.

Club FAQs

Do I have to be a member to visit the Ham Shack?

Answer: No, but you will need to contact us at ventureouteclub@gmail.com to schedule a time. The Ham Shack is not staffed at specific times. FAQ Title: Does the VO Amateur Radio Club sponsor classes and testing for licensing? Answer: Classes will be announced when scheduled in January. Classes customarily are for 8 weeks prior to an exam. FAQ Title: What are call letters for the club? Answer: N7VOC
