CLUB INFORMATION
“Toss Bags, Make Friends!”
The VO Cornhole Club is a social and competitive group for residents who enjoy playing cornhole, from casual open play to organized leagues and tournaments. The club runs regular open play sessions, skill building lessons, rotating leagues, mixed draw tournaments, and periodic fundraising events throughout the season.
Who is the club for?
• Residents who want a fun, low impact outdoor activity with a strong social component.
• Players at all levels, from complete beginners attending Lessons and Beginner Games to experienced players joining Rotating Leagues and fundraisers.
Who is allowed to join
Membership is open to eligible Venture Out residents and guests in accordance with park rules; some fundraising tournaments specify that participants must be club members. Certain events require advance sign up at the Cornhole courts, especially Mixed Draw tournaments, lessons, and fundraising events.
• No experience is required; Lessons and Beginner Games are designed for new players who want structured instruction and guided play.
• Intermediate and advanced players can join Open Play, Mixed Draw tournaments, Men’s and Women’s Rotating Leagues, and fundraising tournaments.
Announcements and News
Season opening & hours: Cornhole play is scheduled multiple days each week, including Open Play, Lessons, Beginner Games, and Mixed Draw tournaments; check the calendar for specific dates and times.
Lessons for new players: Lessons are offered regularly (see calendar) and sign up is required at the Cornhole courts. Note: there is also a beginner league too.
Events & Fundraisers
Fundraising tournaments – Specific days (e.g., January 17 Men’s Fundraising Tournament; January 31 Mixed Fundraising Tournament) at 1:00 pm, $2 entry, membership required, sign up at the Cornhole courts.

Rotating leagues begin: Men’s Rotating Leagues run on Tuesdays at the Cornhole courts. Sign up is required at the courts.
Weekly tournaments: Fun Time Mixed Draw Tournaments and Mixed Draw Tournaments are scheduled most weeks, typically at 1:00 pm with a $2 entry and advance sign up.
Open Play –Open play is available when there are no scheduled Cornhole Club events. Please see calendar.
Lessons –Regularly scheduled lessons at the Cornhole courts; no or minimal fee; sign up required in advance at the Cornhole courts.
Beginner Games –Weekly games at the Cornhole courts; designed for newer players to practice in a supportive environment. Beginners require membership. Please see calendar.
Fun Time Mixed Draw Tournament – Regularly scheduled weekly (see calendar); $2 entry; mixed (women and men) draw teams; sign up required at the Cornhole courts.
Mixed Draw Tournament – Additional mixed draw tournaments are scheduled. Please see calendar.
Men’s Rotating Leagues – On Tuesday’s at 1:00 pm; structured league play for men with rotating partners and opponents.
Men’s & Women’s Rotating Leagues – Mondays such as January 13, 20, and 27 at 1:00 pm; structured league play for men and women, rotating partners or opponents.
Airmail / Pick the Joker Fundraiser – Fundraising side events scheduled with Mixed Draw days (e.g., Wednesday’s ) and at Grapevine meetings (first and third Monday’s at Baja Bistro).
Meetings
• Club meetings are scheduled on first Wednesday of the Month at 12:00 pm prior to regular event play at the Cornhole courts.
• Meeting agendas typically include season planning, league updates, tournament scheduling, and volunteer opportunities.

President: Ed Beaumont – Oversees club operations, schedule, and coordination with the VO office.
Vice President: Teryl Apel – Assists with events, leagues, and day to day coordination.
Treasurer: Sue Standley – Manages dues, tournament entry fees, and fundraising proceeds.
Secretary: Linda Apel – Handles communications, minutes, and postings for announcements and FAQs.
Club FAQs
Do I need experience to join?
No. Lessons and Beginner Games are designed for brand new players, and all events are run in a friendly, supportive environment.
Do I need to bring my own bags or boards?
The club typically provides regulation boards and bags for scheduled events; players may bring personal equipment if it meets club standards.
Which events require sign up?
Lessons, Mixed Draw tournaments, and Fundraising Men’s/Mixed Tournaments require sign up in advance at the Cornhole courts, often with a small entry fee.
What are the typical fees?
Many regular play sessions are free, while Fun Time Mixed Draw and fundraising events usually have a $2 entry fee, as noted on the calendar.

Application
New members can obtain a club application and sign up information at the Cornhole courts or the VO activities office; this can also be provided as a downloadable form on the club page.
Dues
- Annual club dues are $20 per member and help support equipment, court maintenance, and event supplies.
- Some events, especially Mixed Draw and fundraising tournaments, have additional per event entry fees (commonly $1 or $2) collected at sign up.
